Charity Mbaka is a GIS and front-end developer. She is enthusiastic about technology and data, and how we can leverage the former to gain meaningful insights from the latter.
She has a B.Sc Degree in Geospatial Information Science. She has worked/interned for a game development startup, a GIS research firm, GIS and Land Survey firm, and is currently a GIS developer at a cyber security RnD hub.
In her free time she contributes to technology blogs: Kenyan-based TechMoran and Nigeria-based Innovation Village. She also volunteers to digitize maps for cause via HotOSM at mapathons.
Charity is constantly working to improve her skills. She is a fast learner and a dilligent worker, whose number one priority is to provide the best quality work using open source tools.

At E-Kraal, Charity is currently working with a diverse team to research and develop software solutions for the company's clients. The solutions primarily harness spatial data.
She is also working on building a custom Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) with GeoNode.
Mekan Games is is a video game startup company based in Nairobi, Kenya that develops video games for social cohesion. Charity worked at Mekan in the capacity of Special Effects Designer between Jan 2016 and Nov 2017, within which she worked on the KnockOut 2017 video game project.
This was a political video game designed to spread calm and ease tension during the election period, while sensitizing voters about their rights and responsibilities.
Azimath is a survey and GIS company based in Nairobi. Here Charity served as a GIS Intern, working on data collection and map updates for the KPLC meterbox mapping project. The internship ran between July - August 2016.
The Centre for Training and Integrated Research in ASAL Development (CETRAD) is a research firm based in Nanyuki Kenya, that is concerned with research and training to design strategies for sustainable development, promote land use planning for sustained livelihood and optimal resource use, foster sustainable resource use and management for improved productivity and promote non-farm, non-pastoral enterprises, infrastructure and related services. Charity served in the capacity of GIS Intern at the end of my first year of college, between July - August of 2015
Charity attended JKUAT for 4 years, starting in September 2014 and graduating in November 2018.
She pursued a B.Sc in GIS, in which she learned Spatial Analysis, Web mapping, Remote Sensing, Geodesy and basic land surveying skills among numerous others.
Charity attended Moi Girls High School - Eldoret for four years between 2010 and 2013.
She was a member of the school choir and band (played the flugelhorn - trumpet).
She graduated with a B+.
